Vision, mission and values

Here at The Original Birth Connection we aim to facilitate the education of birth workers who are equipped to support all who birth within our communities sensitive to race, sexuality, gender identity, and religion.

We understand that the language we use is important and work hard to ensure we use terminology and phrases that include all who birth in our communities. But please recognise that as creators of this programme we too are on a journey to acknowledge, recognise and evolve our learning about issues of race, gender identity, sexuality, ableism and fat phobia. If we have made mistakes please do not hesitate to discuss these with us and we will strive to make changes and improvements in our language, content and approach to the work.

We understand that we all arrive at this point in our birth work journey from different backgrounds, hold different beliefs and with different lived experiences.

We will endeavour to ensure a learning environment that is open to an exchange of information and ideas but we will not entertain homophobia, transphobia, ableism, racism or fat shaming in our learning spaces which includes our social media platforms, our shared private facebook groups and this learning platform.

Our aim is to create a space where all bodies and people are acknowledged and celebrated through the work that we undertake.
