Radical Full Spectrum Doula Training

Welcome!

Welcome to your Radical Full Spectrum Doula training! We’re so happy you’ve joined us! Please take a moment to read through the information below and then dive on in!

We understand that the language we use is important and work hard to ensure we use terminology and phrases that include all who birth in our communities. But please recognise that as creators of this programme, we too, are on a journey to acknowledge, recognise and evolve our learning about issues of race, gender identity, sexuality, ableism and fat phobia. If we have made mistakes, please do not hesitate to discuss these with us and we will strive to make changes and improvements in our language and content.

We all arrive at this point in our birth work journey from different backgrounds, hold different beliefs and with different lived experiences. We will endeavour to ensure a learning environment that is open to an exchange of information and ideas but we will not entertain homophobia, transphobia, ableism, racism or fat shaming in our learning spaces which includes our social media platforms, our shared private facebook groups and this learning platform.

Our aim is to create a space where all bodies and people are acknowledged and celebrated through the work that we undertake.

In order to ensure that you get the very best out of this training please take a moment to do your pre-work prior to starting the course (this arrived in your welcome email when you signed up to your doula training). The pre-work is extremely important as a piece of self exploration and in order to get the most out of this training.

Once you've submitted this pre-work you'll be able to complete the rest of the online modules.

Please submit your work to your mentor before booking your 1:1.

Please take a moment to have a look at the resources list and the OBC padlet. Password: OBCDOULA. Here you will find plenty of recent studies and research that will be applicable to your birth work. We also have OBC resrouces on the padlet that you may need …. booking links for 1:1, diary dates etc

Michelle

I’m a mum of 3, step mum to 4, horse addict, book worm and huge birth geek.

I’ve been a Doula for over 12 years. I have an MSc in Health and Development with a specialism in Anthropology of Maternal Health. I’m an Antenatal teacher, doula mentor and founder of The Original Birth Connection but at heart I will always first and foremost be a doula!

I created The Original Birth Connection in 2020 because I passionately believe that all birthing people deserve the care and support of a doula or birth keeper that is confident in their knowledge and skills to support them on their journey into parenthood.

My pronouns are she/her.

Alex
