  • The majority of our courses are online and self-driven. You can work around your existing family or work commitments, in your own time. All you need is a computer and an internet connection.

  • You can take as long as you need. Although we do recommend finishing the course within 6 months. If you need longer because of your existing commitments, we recommend talking to us about how we can help! Most of our trainees complete the course in 3 to 6 months.

  • Yes! We run in-person, practical skills training days throughout the year for our Birth Worker Training Programme, in locations across the UK - London, Gloucester, Cumbria and Kent. If you’re signed onto our Intensive course the whole course takes place online.

  • These meetings are designed to set you up to complete the course work. Have amazing discussions with your fellow trainees, and explore some of the more complex aspects of becoming a Doula. We discuss advocacy, human rights, physiology and setting up of you business.

  • There are multiple payment options which impact the cost. If you pay in one payment your investment is £2022. Or you can pay £185.16 (£2222) over 12 months.

    We offer 4 partial scholarships a year to ensure accessibility. The partial scholarship is £1011 a year which can be paid over 6 or 8 instalments (total cost £1112.10) and is available to those on low incomes, in receipt of means tested benefits, or currently unemployed. There is an application form to complete and then partial scholarships are considered on their individual merits application form and a first come, first served basis.

  • The OBC course fully prepares you to start operating as a Doula right out of the gate. We bring in 5 experts for bespoke and detailed Masterclasses. Including LGBTQ+ competency in birth work with The Queer Birth Club, Cultural safety and Advocacy with Illy Morrison of Mixing up Motherhood, are just 2 examples.

    There are NO hidden extras in your training.

    With the OBC you also receive up to 18 months of Mentorship, included in the cost. For reference, Doula UK charge up to £600 for mentoring on top of your existing doula training.

    We provide certification for all doulas who complete our training and recognition process included in the cost of your fee.

    You will be listed on our doula directory (which we advertise through Google) for life as part of the cost of your course

    Finally, you have lifetime access to the OBC Graduate Telegram and Facebook groups. These invaluable groups are your extra layer of support as your move through your Doula journey. We build strong and lasting relationships that help us grow and develop as Doulas.

  • Absolutely! Many of our Doulas haven’t given birth.

  • No! We ask that you have a passion for birth work and making birth better for everyone, regardless or race, sexuality, gender identity or religion.

  • Absolutely. You will understand the differences between the training and services offered by Doulas from midwives. We have trained many midwives and supported their journey as a Doula.

  • We have ensured that you are ready to get started immediately after the course. We are also planning on introducing ongoing training and mentoring for business acumen. Watch this space!

  • We absolutely hope so! This course has been thought out and designed so that you don’t have to complete further training until and only if you want to! We have built the OBC doula course to train you to be a confident, trauma informed birth advocate, with all the tools you need to succeed.

  • We want to offer further opportunities to train in order to aid you to become a full spectrum Doula. These extra courses are deep deep dives into their subject matter, giving you the confidence to add extra services to your practice.
